King & Twins Bag Gloves & FightStuff Review

Postby TheBrokenVow » Wed Mar 04, 2009 9:31 am

At the tail end of December I contact FightStuff with some questions about a pair of Twins bag gloves. He got back to me and let me know about when he expected to ship (due to holidays) etc. I placed the order. For some reason I hadn't selected a size so I e-mailed John and he took care of it, though my order was on hold for a while and I couldn't understand why.

I then ordered a pair of Kings as well. The website stated they were made to order and took 15-20 days or so. I quickly found out though that he had the Kings in stock, but not the Twins... this was after waiting and e-mailing to ask why the Twins were still on hold.

Customer Service
In terms of answering all of my questions and being helpful I would give FightStuff a 5/5. Additionally, the shipping of the Kings was quick which would give me a great experience with them. The Twins however was a big negative experience and I should not have had to wait as long as I did to be told he did not have them. He already charged my card and received his money, so I found this utterly unacceptable and would have cut that experience itself down to a 2/5. Overall though I would probably still order from FightStuff again in the future. Shipping took as stated for international. They went through Hong Kong and reached their final destination here in Maine in around 9 business days.

Product - Kings
I ordered the two-tone yellow and white Kings. Based on my hand size and taking into consideration that I wear wraps, John recommended I order a large. My hand measures 7.5" around the knuckles. Large turned out a great fit. The gloves are comfortable and fit well with my fist. The gloves feature velcro at the wrist and provide solid support, especially in conjunction when I wrap my hands. I had been using a pair of Grants for bag work that someone let me borrow, but I didn't like them much. They didn't fit well or support well. The Kings though are significantly better. I use them for bag work and hitting the pads. Contact feels good, and on top of that they look pretty nice and a lot of guys at my gym have asked about them.

Product - Twins
I ordered a pair of Twins in purple, mostly for my girlfriend. I went with a size large based off John's recommendation which fits us both well with or without handwraps. The Twins feature an elastic wrist, which is fine considering their original intent (for my girl who hits lightly). I've used the Twins myself in the gym for a bit of bag/pad work to focus on technique and less on power. I'm not a big fan of elastic wrists because the support isn't as nice, but I feel they have their purpose. Compared to the Kings, the Twins fit more comfortably with a fist, and the padding covers a bigger area. I prefer the support on the Kings, but the padding on the Twins.

Value
Each glove, including shipping, cost me about $42 and change. Of course there are better gloves out their for a higher cost, but to be honest I feel I got my money's worth. I've been using them both since receiving them, but have put more use into the Kings, and have run into 0 problems with them. But really, its hard to go wrong with Twins or Kings.

Overall
In general I am very happy with my purchases. I would gladly buy Twins or Kings again, and I like how their is a wide variety to choose from with each company. Additionally, despite the hiccup with FightStuff, I would still buy from them again because John's a good guy who runs a pretty good company. No company will ever be 100% so I'm not going to be sour about the experience.
