Looking for fighters for all weight classes and experience. Athletes wanted with backgrounds in combat sports such as boxing, wrestling, muay thai, kickboxing and traditional martial arts. Team fighters will be managed by MMA Stars (MMAStars.com). MMA Stars ia a full service management and talent development company for mixed martial arts athletes looking to provide the best in training, management, and branding for the MMA Stars of the future.

Happy New Year Everyone!

Shamrock MMA has moved downtown to the San Jose Athletic Club at 196 N 3rd St San Jose, CA 95112 and classes begin for the New Year on Monday Jan 6th.

The downtown location has every amenity including parking. Members receive 2 hours validated parking at 80 N 3rd St, San Jose

Directions:
Downtown San Jose - 87 exits Santa Clara Left on 3rd, 1st left into Parking Garage

One block walk to SJAC - TWO hours validated parking for members, be sure to stop by the front desk to check out and get your validation.

All classes after 5:00pm will begin 30 minutes later to accommodate for travel.

Enter on the bottom floor to the right of the building and take the elevator to your right or warm up with five flights of stairs to the top floor.

Note: There is metered street parking available (bring quarters) at SJAC, around Saint James Park, the surrounding streets for two hours Mon – Sat 6am to 6pm and free parking after 6pm, Sundays and Holidays

Frank Shamrock, legendary mixed martial arts (MMA) fighter and Five-time Undefeated UFC Middleweight Champion, announced today that he will be holding tryouts for Team Shamrock, his official fight team. One stand out athlete will win a spot to compete at an upcoming Strikeforce event. The tryouts, officially sponsored by TapouT, will take place on March 21, 2009, and will be held from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm at Shamrock’s newest mixed martial arts training facility in San Jose California. Shamrock’s facility is located within the San Jose Athletic Club on 196 North Third Street.

For those interested in becoming a member of Team Shamrock, the cost to try out is $75.00 if you have had less than five professional fights. It is FREE to professional fighters with five or more professional fights (listed on Sherdog.com). Please bring proof of this on the day of the tryouts. Competitors must provide their own MMA gear for the competition; including shin guards, 16 oz gloves, wraps, MMA gloves, mouth piece, head gear and groin protector. Gear must be clean! Competitors traveling to San Jose for the tryouts must plan their own transportation and must pay for their own flight, hotel, transportation and food. Frank Shamrock holds tryouts for fight team, standout Victor Cheng awarded Strikeforce contract

Following tryouts that were held at Frank Shamrock’s most recent training facility in San Jose, California, six up and coming fighters made the cut, and were officially added to Shamrock’s growing fight team.

The tryouts were sponsored by TapouT and were open to professional fighters in a variety of different combat sports. Over forty fighters from all over the world showed up to have a chance to join Shamrock’s fight team, and more importantly, the chance at a Strikeforce contract.

“The tryouts were a great success; I liked the entire group of athletes that tried out and was very impressed with their skills. The skill level of the average fighter has definitely gone up considerably in the past few years, allowing me to add some phenomenal new talent to my team. I’m also very excited to be one of the first MMA coaches to award a Strikeforce contract at fight team tryouts.” said Shamrock.

The eventual winner of the Strikeforce contract was middleweight Victor Cheng, who had traveled all the way from Sweden for a chance on the team. The Swedish standout was able to impress all of the judges with his level of conditioning, striking and ground game.
