During a recent string of nights out in Las Vegas with some of my buddies, we stumbled upon a terrific after hours nightclub called Drais, which is located inside Bill’s Gambling Hall on the Strip. It is a popular spot for party goers to frequent around the time traditional clubs are closing, so this venue doesn’t really get the party going until around 3:00 am. With three distinct rooms that include a laid-back lounge area, a room spinning high-energy house music and an area for hip-hop, not to mention hundreds of beautiful people, this club has it all.
What I didn’t expect was this place to have any connection to boxing whatsoever, but I found myself fortunate (or unfortunate depending on how you look at it) to separately run into “Iron” Mike Tyson and Floyd “Money” Mayweather Jr. on consecutive nights. Although their boxing styles couldn’t be more different, they obviously enjoy socializing in the same place, but that is pretty much where the similarities end.
In the early morning hours of July 25th, a friend of mine and I were enjoying bottle service in the room pumping house music at Drais when my buddy Richard exclaimed, “Isn’t that Mike Tyson over there?” Upon looking up, I could see him. Once the baddest man on the planet who only traveled in a big entourage with lots of fan fare was now all alone, sitting by himself at a booth.
