Chris Leben's New Ultimate Fight School

Postby keithlewis » Sun Feb 01, 2009 1:58 am

Word out of Hawaii has the UFC's Chris "The Crippler" Leben (18-5) opening a new training center next week. The "Ultimate Fight School," located near the University of Hawaii campus (1035 University Avenue in Honolulu), opens on Monday and will offer classes in MMA, Kickboxing, Submission Grappling, Strength & Conditioning, and will also have a children's program.

Leben, who previously trained in the Pacific Northwest with both Team Quest and Matt Hume's AMC Pankration, had originally relocated to Honolulu to become the head trainer at Icon Sport and Fitness, but is now moving ahead with his own venture. According to partner, June Calabrese, "After his Bisping fight, we both felt we were at the right place, at the right time in our lives, to pursue a DREAM that we've both had for a long time, which is opening an MMA gym of our own." Along with head trainer, Leben, another main coach will be Steven Saito, one of Chris' top students who has begun making his own mark in the local Hawaiian pro circuit, most recently advancing to the finals of BJ Penn's 8-man Beatdown Challenge tournament, where he took runner up honors. If you're in Oahu and looking for a place to train with top level professional fighters, check out Chris Leben's new Ultimate Fight School.
