WEC 40 Adds Assuncao vs. Massouh

Top ten ranked featherweight Rafael Assuncao (12-1) has been added to face Jameel Massouh (20-4) on the Chicago-based April 5 card. Sources within Massouh's camp confirmed the bout to PDG on Sunday.

Assuncao will be making his WEC debut, but is no stranger to a challenge. He is currently on a four-fight win streak, including a twelve-second knockout over Joe Pearson in his most recent outing. Prior to his sole career loss to ranked opponent Jeff Curran in 2006, Assuncao was on an eight-fight win streak, including wins over Joe Lauzon and Jorge Masvidal.

Massouh enters his WEC debut riding a four-fight win streak. His last loss came to Clay French. Against top flight competition he has come out on the losing end in his career, including an additional loss to Daiki Hata. In twenty wins Massouh has scored seven TKO's and nine submissions.

WEC 40 is set to feature a bantamweight championship between top ranked Miguel Torres and top ten fighter Takeya Mizugaki. Torres was initially slated to face Brian Bowles, but Bowles was forced off the card due to an undisclosed injury.

if you don't know what i'm talking about, like my boy crouchie always says, 'you better ask somebody'...

make sure you tune in april 5th to the 'VS' channel (check your local listings to see if it's available to you or not) to watch my ugly mug probably get made a little uglier for the 'WEC torres vs. mizugaki" card...

oh yeah and if you do happen to tune in be sure to bring your popcorn, cause i'm a be puttin' on a show and you can't watch a show without popcorn...

as always first and foremost gotta give HIM his, to the MAN upstairs, thank you for blessing me my whole life, thank you for all the trials and tribulations, thank you for everything, the good with the bad...

next is a huge shout out to my family, thank you for always supporting me, even when my knucklehead decided to go full-bore with this mma thing, oma i love you, juey thanks for always inspiring me towards greatness, crouchie thank you for all your guidance and love...

to all my friends and family at the LAB, thank you for all of your support, it really means a lot to me, probably a lot more than you realize, to the fight team y'all my brothers from other mothers and through it all, i'll always hold you guys down...

of course can't leave out my sponsor MTX audio, thank you guys for placing faith in me and allowing me to completely immerse myself in something that i love, i am also stoked that you guys are such a great company to represent, you make it easy for me to talk you guys up...

to everybody,
i will NEVER let you down...

your brother in CHRIST,

benson

* Versus.com has learned that Sunday's WEC featherweight fight between Cub Swanson and Diego Nunes has been canceled due to a hand injury suffered by Nunes. A WEC official informed us that no replacement will be booked, leaving Swanson off the card.
