Wii MotionPlus sells nearly 500k units before Wii Sports Resort releases
We've got another week until Wii Sports Resort hits retailer shelves, but as per the recently released June NPD numbers, we already know that the Wii's MotionPlus has moved nearly half a million units. Our sister site Engadget dug up the numbers of individual units sold for the peripheral attachment (169,000) as well as the numbers that Tiger Woods PGA Tour 10 sold (272,400) -- a game that includes the MotionPlus in the box -- and found that, a full three weeks before the July 28th release of Wii Sports Resort, the MotionPlus is already in 441,400 consumers' homes.
We all know the old adage "Good software moves hardware," but in Nintendo's case, apparently "barely any software" is enough.

More Sports + More Control = More Fun
Just like Wii Sports brought motion-controlled bowling, tennis, golf and more right into your living room, Wii Sports Resort will bring even more activities and even more control with the included Wii MotionPlus accessory. You'll enjoy a variety of sports activities, like archery, kayaking, water scooters and skydiving, all on a lush tropical island resort, without having to worry about getting sand in your swimsuit.
The Wii MotionPlus accessory plugs into your existing Wii Remote to give you greater response that will allow you to draw or fade a golf shot, apply top spin to a table-tennis serve, accurately fling a flying disk, lunge and parry with a sword, and more. Wii Sports Resort with the Wii MotionPlus accessory ships, oddly enough, for Wii July 26.
