10 Questions With Jay Silva (by Darrick Patrick)

Jay Silva is a professional mixed martial artist who has appeared in organizations such as Call To Arms, Extreme Challenge, Sparstar Promotions, and Ring Of Combat. At the time of this interview, his next scheduled match is against Ray Lizama in Call To Arms at CTA 2: Called Out MMA on August 15th, 2009.

Darrick: What was the road that led you to professional mixed martial arts competition?

Jay: It all began for me while I was watching the first season of The Ultimate Fighter television show. I realized that I could do that if I wanted to. I could beat those guys on the show. I could fight.

Darrick: Who are some of the people that greatly influenced you while growing up?

Jay: The most influential people in my life have been my father and my brothers. My brothers were always kicking my ass, which in turn made me strong.

Darrick: Do you have any words of advice for other individuals looking to compete in MMA?

Jay: Whatever dream you have, follow that dream. That's all you have to do. If you think you can do it, then don't ever stop. Don't let anybody tell you that you're wrong.

Darrick: Your next scheduled match is against Ray Lizama on August 15th. What are your thoughts about this upcoming fight?

Jay: Ray is a really good fighter who brings it when he comes to a fight. I know he likes to bang. I like to bang too. I expect a war and nothing less than that. I will be victorious.

Darrick: What brings you the most fulfillment out of martial arts?

Jay: Mixed martial arts is about challenges and finding out who is the best. Working hard each day to be the best keeps me going and is very fulfilling to me.

Darrick: Who are a few of the people in the sport that you highly respect?

Jay: I have a lot of respect for Cheick Kongo, Rampage Jackson, Benji Radach, and Junior Gazze. They always do their thing when it's time to fight and they have also taught me what it means to work hard. They help me work to make my game better and become stronger than other fighters.

Darrick: Outside of MMA, what are your other interests?

Jay: When I am not training, I am pretty much just a regular guy. I like to hang out with my friends, have a good time, and play pranks. I love to mess with my friends, especially Kongo.

Darrick: What is your oldest memory?

Jay: The earliest memory I have is from when we lived in Brazil. My older brother had taken my belt, I tried to get my belt back, and he kicked my ass. I decided on that day that I was going to grow up and be able to beat him.

Darrick: Tell us something about you that most people don't know.

Jay: Most people don't know that I am afraid of my big sister. She is the only person I would never fight.

Darrick: When you're no longer amongst the living, how would you most like to be remembered?

Jay: I want to be remembered as the greatest fighter the world has ever seen. I want people to remember me as a beast.
