Dream on Wednesday announced the opponent for Top 10 ranked lightweight Gesias “JZ” Cavalcante, and confirmed the withdrawal of Gegard Mousasi from its “Super Hulk” tournament.
Cavalcante (14-3-1) is currently on a two-fight skid. He lost to No. 2 ranked Shinya Aoki in April of 2008 before sitting out for more than a year and then losing to Tatsuya Kawajiri at Dream 9 in May of this year. He returns at Dream 11 on Oct. 6 to face Daisuke Nakamura.
Currently sporting a 20-10 record, Nakamura got back on the winning track with a unanimous decision over Ferrid Kheder at M-1: Breakthrough in August following a loss to Mitsuhiro Ishida earlier this year.
http://www.MMAWeekly.com first reported the withdrawal of Mousasi on Tuesday. One source indicated that the Armenian might have injured his shoulder in an exhibition match with teammate Fedor Emelianenko at M-1: Breakthrough.
Dream officials did not disclose the nature of Mousasi’s withdrawal.
