Thiago Alves has withdrawn from his rematch with Jon Fitch that was scheduled for Saturday at UFC 111 due to a failed CAT scan, UFC President Dana White told Yahoo Sports on Thursday.

The welterweight bout was set for the main card.

Alves and Fitch first met in June 2006, with Fitch winning via stoppage in the second round. Both men have had impressive runs since that fight. Fitch is 8-1, losing only a title shot against Georges St. Pierre. Alves is 7-1, also losing only to St. Pierre.

White told Yahoo he wasn’t sure whether Fitch would fight a different opponent at UFC 111.
