The mobile Brute Adidas studios of TDR are back on the road this week to present the National Junior College Championships Live from Vets Auditorium in Des Moines, Iowa.
The National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) is taking the national wrestling tournament to a new venue this year, moving the annual event to Des Moines, Iowa. Action begins next weekend, Friday, Feb. 26 and Saturday, Feb. 27, at Veterans Memorial Auditorium. The national tournament is hosted by all of the Iowa wrestling schools including Ellsworth Community College, Iowa Central, North Iowa Area Community College and Iowa Lakes Community College. Wrestling starts at 9:30 a.m. on Friday with two sessions as the top eight wrestlers at each weight will advance to Saturday. Finals begin at 7pm Saturday night. The event has been held in Rochester, MN, for the last 12 years.
This year promises to bring a lot of action to the state with its own Iowa Central Community College vying for their 5th consecutive team championship, coming off a big win as the west central district team champs earlier this month. Last year all the Iowa teams placed in the top ten. With a wealth of talent and numerous ranked wrestlers, this year's national tournament should give every team a shot at the stand. Other district champions include #3 Ranked Labette College who won the west central district, # 6 North Idaho who won the western district along with Harper College who won the central district; Nassau won in the eastern district and Niagara won eastern District II. Top challenging teams also include Meramec College ranked #2; Northwest Wyoming #4 and Clackamas at #5. Wrestlers will be competing in the tournament, representing over 40 junior colleges from across the country.
Join Scott Casber, Steve Foster, Chad Wiltsey, Bob Selby and others for this free 2 day broadcast courtesy of the Des Moines Area Sports Commission and the NJCAA.

Takedown Radio Television Features NAIA Wrestling Championships TDR's video feature includes interviews with coaches and championship administrators
March 26, 2010 - Takedown Radio Television - NAIA Special - http://www.blip.tv/file/3359436
KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The 53rd Annual NAIA Wrestling National Championships, which concluded on March 6, have been featured on Takedown Radio (TDR), a nationally recognized source for radio and television for the sport of wrestling. TDR's Scott Casber and Steve Foster attended the event in Oklahoma City, Okla., to explore and tell the untold stories through a special video feature on NAIA Wrestling. It was the first time that TDR had experienced what NAIA coaches and wrestlers bring to the mat.
"I judge an event on the people who organize and produce the event," Casber said. "Seldom do we find or enjoy one as much as we did during our first NAIA Wrestling National Championships. The people, coaches and student-athletes were happy to have us. They worked with us to better allow us to do our job. We pride ourselves in telling the stories of the people. Anyone can report scores, but it's the people doing the scoring and their individual stories that make this a compelling story for TDR."
Cabser and Foster spent the day interviewing coaches and championship administrators to better convey to its audience what the NAIA and its coaches and student-athletes bring to the world of wrestling. What TDR saw in its first trip to the NAIA Wrestling National Championships left a heavy impression.
"The NAIA Wrestling National Championships were well organized and well attended," Casber said. "The NAIA should be commended for the job it does for its member institutions and student-athletes it serves. The event was easy to follow and everyone was having a good time. Coaches, student-athletes and the fans worked to make this a positive experience for all."
TDR plans to attend the 2011 NAIA Wrestling National Championships March 3-5.
"The cities and locations of the NAIA Wrestling National Championships make it easy for us to come and grab as much video and audio as we need to tell a compelling story," Casber said.
Built on the vision to promote the sport of wrestling, Casber founded and developed a 52-week program that talked of nothing but wrestling. As a result, Takedown Wrestling Radio was born. Coaches, student-athletes and fans at all levels of wrestling are featured on the show with the goal to promote wrestling and its people. TDR TV, a spin-off of the popular radio program. Both are available by clicking here - http://takedownradio.com/.
Each year, TDR and TDR TV travel to major wrestling events starting in October and going to the end of March. Some of the events TDR has attended include: Las Vegas Invitational, NWCA/Cliff Keen National Duals, Big 12 and Big 10 Championships, Body Bar, Northeast Duals, Midlands Championships, Sprawl and Brawl, NY City Championships, Fullerton Open, U.S. Open, Senior Nationals, NJCAA Championships.
Casber is a nationally recognized announcer, commentator and promoter. In 2009, Casber was named National Wrestling Broadcaster of the Year and Wrestling Impact of the Year. His voice has been heard throughout the sports world for over 30 years and is the voice behind the Iowa Barnstormers, Iowa Energy and Des Moines Menace, along with commercials for TV and radio.
Foster joined the team as a volunteer and travels to promote the sport. Owner and founder of Riddx Pest Control Systems in Iowa, Foster's love of wrestling traces back to the early 1960s when he started attending Iowa State duals.
