Sky-high Expectations Set on Sarnavskiy at M-1 Challenge XXII
Midway through M-1 Global’s greatest event of 2010, the talented rising star, Alexander ‘Tiger’ Sarnavskiy showed the crowd and fans watching via live stream why he is considered one of Russia’s most dangerous lightweight fighters. Sarnavskiy unleashed a devastating spinning back-fist that knocked out Victor Kuku in epic fashion, ending the anticipated bout in only 14 seconds and marking it as one of 2010’s greatest MMA knock-outs.
“There wasn’t a person inside the Ice Palace whose jaw didn’t drop,” says Evgeni Kogan, Director of Operations for M-1 Global. “This is easily a candidate for ‘knock-out’ of the year.”
With the victory, the 21-year-old Sarnavskiy improved to 11-0 as a professional mixed martial artist and drew light to his position as one of RusFighters Sports Club’s marquee fighters alongside teammate Alexander Schlemenko.
Coming away unscathed, Sarnavskiy was quickly added to M-1’s follow up event, M-1 Challenge XXII which goes down December 10th from the Druzhba Arena in Moscow, Russia where is slated to fight the relatively inexperienced Arsen Ubaidulaev (1-3).
Although viewed as heavy underdog coming into the fight, Ubaidulaev was quick to take the tilt and is ready to create the upset victory that hands the ‘Tiger’ the first loss of his career. On December 10th, fans worldwide will see if Ubaidulaev’s confidence is simply lip service or if he can deliver on the daunting task set in front of him.
Simply put, this is a bout that Sarnavskiy has to win.

Vinny Magalhaes Brings His BJJ to Russia as Part of M-1 Challenge XXII
Eager to share his skills inside the ring as well as out, Magalhaes is scheduled to face off with Alihan Magomedov (12-1) on December 10, 2010 at M-1 Challenge XXII. The bout will mark the fighters return to the ring after a knee surgery that kept the fighter sidelined for the better portion of 2010.
The three time Brazilian jiu jitsu world champion recently took part in an all star seminar lineup in Saint Petersburg, Russia designed to assist in the development of M-1Global’s upcoming stable of young fighters. “I’ve trained in Japan, Brazil, the United States and now Russia, one thing that I can say is that the Russian fighters were some of the most intense guys that I have ever been around,” said Vinny Magalhaes.
Speaking with M-1 Global, the submission phenom discussed his trip to Saint Petersburg and his impression of Eastern European fighters, “I really liked St. Petersburg; the city was just as beautiful as I was expecting. Working with the Russian athletes, it’s clear that they don’t have the same resources that we have in the USA but that doesn’t change how tough they can be. Some of those guys were literally training 8 hours a day,” said Magalhaes.
With his December 10th debut date closing in fast, Magalhaes is as prepared as he can be when he faces Russian National Pancrase and Hand-to-Hand Combat champion, Alihan Magomedov (12-1). “I’ve had a chance to study all the tape available on him. He’s a very good ground and pound fighter, extremely tough and has a solid record. I’m looking forward to competing against such a good opponent.”
