The UFC was in a rather different situation then. It was 2003 and overall PRIDE was bigger, more successful and had better fighters than the UFC. There was nothing really to lose by having Chuck and Ricco fight in PRIDE.
Now, there's nothing to gain by co-promoting with Strikeforce. All they'd be doing is pointlessly bringing attention to them.
