DREAM. 17 'Fight for Japan' - Live Results & Event Coverage
Saturday, September 24, 2011
Saitama Super Arena, Japan

*Join PDG for our Live Results and Event Coverage beginning at 3:00 AM EST on Saturday the 24th of September.*

Fight #1: Open Weight One Match: DREAM Rules:
MINOWAMAN vs. Baru Harn via Submission (Neck/Arm Crank) Round 1

- Because of the size difference (5" in height, over 60 lbs for Harn), no kicks or knees to the head allowed in this fight.

Fight #2: Bantamweight World Tournament 1st Round: DREAM Rules:
Yusup Saadulaev vs. Rodolfo Marques via Decision - Unanimous 3-0

- A very close grappling and submission attempt battle.

- Rodolfo Marques moves onto the BW Tourney Semi-Finals.

Fight #3: Bantamweight World Tournament 1st Round: DREAM Rules:
Masakazu Imanari vs. Abel Cullum via Submission (Armbar) Round 3

- Cullum survived 40 submission attempts in the fight but not 41.

- Masakazu Imanari moves onto the BW Tourney Semi-Finals.

Fight #4: Bantamweight World Tournament 1st Round: DREAM Rules:
Bibiano Fernandes vs. Takafumi Otuka via Submission (RNC) Round 1

- This fight was over nearly as fast as it began (0:41).

- Bibiano Fernandes moves onto the BW Tourney Semi-Finals.

Fight #5: Bantamweight World Tournament 1st Round: DREAM Rules:
Hideo Tokoro vs. Antonio Banuelos via Decision - Split 2-1

- Decent fight but Banuelos didn't really connect with his strikes and Tokoro didn't really make a mark with his submission attempts. Good fight overall though.

- Antonio Banuelos moves onto the BW Tourney Semi-Finals.

Fight #6: Middleweight One Match: DREAM Rules:
Kazuhiro Nakamura vs. Gerald Harris via Decision - Split 2-1

- Tough fight to call but I would say Harris won... and the judges agreed.

Fight #7: Lightweight One Match: DREAM Rules:
Satoru Kitaoka vs. Willamy Freire via Decision - Split 2-1

- Willamy Freire received a yellow card for in-activity, Kitaoka fought a decent fight but Willamy Freire was close to winning this fight.

**INTERMISSION**

Fight #8: Welterweight One Match: DREAM Rules:
Kazushi Sakuraba vs. Yan Cabral via Submission (Head-n-Arm Choke) Round 1

- In what could be Sakuraba's retirement fight an undefeated Cabral wins.

Fight #9: Featherweight One Match: DREAM Rules:
Caol Uno vs. "Lion" Takeshi Inoue via KO (Head Kick) Round 1

- Inoue controlled the first round and then ended the fight emphatically.

Fight #10: Featherweight One Match: DREAM Rules:
Tatsuya Kawajiri vs. Joachim Hansen via Submission (Head 'n Arm Choke) Round 3

- Decent fight but Hansen seems on the down-swing and Kawajiri looked good as a FW.

Fight #11: Lightweight One Match: DREAM Rules:
Shinya Aoki vs. Rob McCullough via Submission (RNC) Round 1

- Aoki got the win will 1 second left in the first round.

A great weekend of fights, I only hope that I will survive. Seven big events this weekend.

Does anyone think Razor has a chance? and can Hellboy regain his form?

I wanted to stay up for this event since JMMA is having so much trouble. I hope this isn't the last Dream event.
