UFC Visits Stampede in Advance of First Calgary Event

TORONTO – In advance of its highly anticipated sold out July 21 event at the Scotiabank Saddledome, the Ultimate Fighting Championship, the world’s premier mixed martial arts organization, announced today that it will make a special visit to Calgary to partake in festivities surrounding the 100th Calgary Stampede on July 12 and 13.

Calgary native Nick Ring will be joined by Dutch heavyweight Stefan Struve and Canadian standouts Rory MacDonald (Kelowna, B.C.) and Mark Hominick (Thamesford, Ont.) as the UFC gets a behind the scenes look at The Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth on July 12. Hominick, MacDonald and Struve will learn the ropes with Stampede bull fighter Dave Sandilands and the grounds crew, and also participate in a chuckwagon lap, while the trio willlater be joined by Ring as they visit Lammle’s to try on western wear.

In addition, both Struve and Hominick will make a special visit to Sunridge Mall on July 13 as Octagon Nation, the UFC’s traveling fan experience, will make its first of many stops in Calgary at Sport Chek from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The UFC Octagon Nation Tour is an interactive experience like none other.
