UFC 159: Jones vs. Sonnen - Fight Card Updates
UFC light heavyweight champion and New Yorker Jon “Bones” Jones returns to Prudential Center in Newark, N.J. on Saturday, April 27 to defend his title against controversial and unpredictable star, Chael Sonnen. The Ultimate Fighting Championship announced today that it will be returning to the Garden State this spring for this long awaited grudge match between two of the sport’s most recognizable names.
Jones and Sonnen serve as coaches on this season’s The Ultimate Fighter, the longest running sports reality show on television. Tension between the two has never been higher and it will come to a boil during a two-hour season premiere Tuesday, Jan. 22 on FX at 8 p.m. ET/PT.
“Jon Jones has destroyed all the top guys in the light heavyweight division,” UFC President Dana White said. “He has defended the title four times and is one of the pound-for-pound best in the world. This fight with Chael is personal! Chael called Jones out and said a lot of things about him. Chael always comes to fight and I’m very interested in this matchup.”
“There's a rumor going around that says Jon Jones is the best,” Sonnen said. “We're going to find out who wins - the best or the baddest?”
“The rumors are true, I am the best,” Jones, who won the title at Prudential Center in March 2011 by defeating then-champion Mauricio “Shogun” Rua, said. “On April 27th, Chael will be put through the test. When it’s all said and done, he'll be just like the rest.”

Re: UFC 159: Jones vs. Sonnen - Fight Card Updates
After weeks of sparring between the two on Twitter, verbal agreements are in for a light heavyweight showdown between Brazilian jiu-jitsu champion Vinny Magalhaes and top ten ranked Phil "Mr. Wonderful" Davis.
The two will meet at UFC 159 in Newark April 27, on the same card headlined by a light heavyweight title fight between Jon Jones and Chael Sonnen, a jiu-jitsu student of Magalhaes.

The third-ever women's bantamweight bout will go down at UFC 159 April 27 in Newark, as Olympic medalist Sara McMann faces off against German knockout artist Sheila Gaff. At featherweight, fan favorites Leonard Garcia and Cody McKenzie have rebooked their bout. The two were originally slated to meet at UFC 155 in December, but McKenzie was forced to withdraw due to injury.
Earlier today, two Strikeforce light heavyweight standouts have verbally agreed to make their UFC debuts against each other as 12-5 Ovince St. Preux will face 10-3 Gian "GP" Villante at UFC 159 April 27 in Newark, NJ. Plus, featherweight prospects Jimy Hettes and Steven Siler will square off at the same event.

Re: UFC 159: Jones vs. Sonnen - Fight Card Updates
Featherweight prospect Jimy Hettes has been bitten by the injury bug and forced out of his scheduled UFC 159 bout with Steven Siler. In steps Kurt Holobaugh. Now making his UFC debut, Holobaugh gave a memorable performance his last bout, a January fight against Pat Healy in Strikeforce where he fought up one weight class and on short notice.

Re: UFC 159: Jones vs. Sonnen - Fight Card Updates
After matching wits and strategies against each other as opposing coaches on Season 17 of The Ultimate Fighter, Jon Jones and Chael Sonnen will put their respective skills and strengths as competitors to the test in the main event of UFC 159, with the UFC light heavyweight title going to the victor.
It’s a fight not many people believed Sonnen earned, but then again, chances are very few expected him to be such a magnanimous, diligent coach to “Team Darkside” either.
Though the main event doesn’t carry the bad blood and trash talk many expected it to as of right now, the co-main event makes up for it, as Michael Bisping and Alan Belcher meet in a pivotal middleweight clash. “The Count” and “The Talent” have been taking shots at each other long before this bout was put together, and they’ve continued since the pairing was announced, but come April 27, they’ll each have to back up their big talk inside the cage.
The Bisping-Belcher clash isn’t the only grudge match scheduled to take place at the Prudential Center though, as light heavyweights Phil Davis and Vinny Magalhaes square off to resolve their differences in the cage as well. Add in a heavyweight pairing pitting Roy Nelson against Cheick Kongo, and Jersey’s own Jim Miller welcoming Pat “Bam Bam” Healy to the biggest stage in the sport, and UFC 159 is poised to be a powerhouse pay-per-view event.
