St. Anger Vinyl Coming Thursday July 14!


A limited edition pressing of 1,000 copies of St. Anger on deluxe ORANGE vinyl will be available for Met Club members and on BecauseSoundMatters.com this Thursday, July 14 at 1:00 PM PST. This deluxe limited edition orange vinyl release comes as a 4LP, 45 rpm, 180-gram high performance vinyl box set. Regular and deluxe black vinyl will also be available. This is the last of the vinyl re-issue releases so don't miss out! Any remaining limited edition orange vinyl not sold to Met Club members will be available to non-members at Metallica.com starting at 10 AM on Friday July 15.

The limited run two book set, each book 12” x 12” square bound with a hard cover. The first book includes 20 pages of photographs by famed photographer and director Anton Corbijn, all taken of Lou Reed and Metallica in Gothenburg, Sweden in July of 2011. The lyric book is 28 pages with lyrics from each song along with imagery from the objects collection of Werkbundarchiv Museum Der Dinge, Berlin, Germany and the two “Lulu” CD’s are also included in the lyric book, all housed in a clear plastic slipcase.

Orion Music + More Single Day Tickets, Complete Schedule, and Lots More!


Sixty six days... we're counting them all down to the first ever Orion Music + More festival in Atlantic City, NJ on June 23 and 24. As promised, we're busy brain-storming, planning, and coming up with cool bands and activities to add to the weekend's festivities. This week we're excited to announce that we've heard your demands of "tell us who's playing when" and have posted the full schedule on the Orion Music + More site AND single day tickets are now available, so if you can't hang with us for the entire weekend we understand (sort of!)... they are available here.

If you've been following along, you know that we plan to perform The Black Album in its entirety one night (we're big on that anniversary thing right now - it's been 20 years!), and Ride The Lightning in its entirety the other, so for your planning purposes RTL will be on Saturday, June 23 with The Black Album up the next night, Sunday, June 24. We've added several new bands and comedians to the line-up; Ghost, The Black Dahlia Murder, Letlive, Jim Florentine, Don Jamieson, Charred Walls of the Damned, and Shuli Egar are all on board and you'll see that we still have a few open spots to fill, so more to come.

On the "other cool activities" front, you may have already seen that James will be hosting a custom car and motorcycle show, our friends from Billabong will be on site with the "All Out Air Assault" surfing exposition, "Ktulu's Rock ‘N' Roll Emporium," a rock and roll market, will be set up, and just added is "Kirk's Crypt," a showcase of Kirk's passion for all things horror - vintage film posters, movie props, collectables and more . . . all hosted by The Ripper himself.

Deep Purple Tribute Album

We are honored to finally confirm that our contribution to the much-discussed Deep Purple tribute album Re-Machined - a Tribute to Deep Purple's Machine Head will be available on September 4, 2012 through our good friends at Classic Rock Magazine as part of a special "fan-pack." Those of you who know us will have figured out we don't always take the most conventional path, and sure enough, we decided to cover a song called "When A Blind Man Cries," which was recorded during these sessions, but not included on the album. Instead, it was used as the B-side on the "Never Before" single. The song does appear as a bonus track on the album's 25th anniversary edition.

As you might have noticed with these fan-packs, the mag portion is always full of really cool exclusive content, and this one is no different, with 128 pages of exclusive chats with Purple members as well as one of the last-ever interviews with the mighty Jon Lord, who sadly passed away recently.

Orion Music + More 2013!


We are thrilled to be back to give you details about the second annual Orion Music + More Festival, our very own two day live music and lifestyle event brought together in the spirit of the legendary festivals around the world that we have been fortunate to be a part of for so many years. We're very proud and excited to be taking this year's festival to Detroit, Michigan, a city with a long history of musical diversity that represents what our goal with Orion is – to bring you everything from metal to dance music and a little of what lives in between. And even though we have a new location, you can expect all the fun and games of last year's Orion to return bigger, badder and crazier with more activities and entertainment for two full days on June 8 and 9, 2013 on the city's Belle Isle.

This year we are super psyched to have the Red Hot Chili Peppers join us to close the main Orion stage one night while we hit that stage the other. All in all we'll have over 30 bands across five stages and we're excited that this year Orion will include an EDM tent headlined by Bassnectar. Check out the full list below of the amazing artists who will be a part of Orion this year, including Rise Against, the Deftones, Dropkick Murphys, Gogol Bordello, Silversun Pickups, Foals, The Joy Formidable, Death Grips, and Tomahawk, just to name a few . . . and this is just the beginning as we continue to invite a wide range of musicians, DJ's, and bands to make the trek to Detroit.

Of course all our little personal quirks and stuff we're into will be back in the form of James' Custom Car & Motorcycle Show, Kirk's Crypt, Lars' Hit the Lights Film Tent and Robert's Vans Vert Ramp alongside the Metallica Museum and other fan favorite attractions. Again, we've joined forces with our friends at C3 Presents, who bring you Lollapalooza and Austin City Limits each year here in the U.S. as well as presenting Big Day Out to our Australian friends, so if you joined us last year you can expect the same friendly atmosphere and festival amenities.
