Urijah Faber and Phil Davis Launch MMADraft.com a Promotional Platform for Amateur Martial Artists
Urijah Faber and Phil Davis are proud to announce the official launch of MMADraft.com, a platform created for martial artists by martial artists to generate opportunities and exposure for combat sports athletes at the amateur level. Backed by pros that know what it takes to get ahead in the competitive world of mixed martial arts, MMADraft.com provides amateur athletes with valuable tools and resources to help them excel in every aspect of their fight career.
As seasoned veterans, Urijah Faber and Phil Davis know all too well how difficult it is to stand out amongst the sea of fierce competitors in the sport of MMA. As the sport evolves and the talent pool continues to grow, it is becoming increasingly difficult for skilled amateur fighters to get noticed and to identify what path is the most constructive to reach their goals. Recognizing this, Faber and Davis created MMADraft.com, a platform to help amateurs in the sport get an edge on the competition.
According to Urijah Faber, “Thousands of athletes from diverse backgrounds transition into MMA every year. To make it in this sport you have to stand out, not only as a skilled athlete but as a marketable brand. At MMA Draft we give amateur fighters the tools to achieve this. We also have an established network of MMA scouts that are constantly on the lookout for stand out talent.”
Phil Davis had this to add, “MMADraft.com is definitely THE place to be if you’re an up-and-coming amateur martial artist. Not only do we provide amateur fighters with a high-profile marketing platform and forums where they can build a fan base, we give them access to advice from pros that have been where they’re at and know how to get them to the next level.”
One of the most exciting and beneficial aspects of MMADraft.com is the exposure it generates for its athletes. Members of the MMA Draft team utilize their resources in the professional world of MMA to give back to the army of young amateur athletes that are forming its future. By sponsoring active A-list professional fighters, utilizing social networks and capitalizing on national media connections, MMA Draft drives attention to the site and its users.
Amateur martial artists of all ages and skill levels are encouraged to create a profile on http://www.MMADraft.com. The site is FREE to join and participating amateur athletes can upload photos and videos, document notable career achievements and more! The MMA Draft database also stores event results from Pankration, Submission Grappling, Wrestling and other sports that may lead to a career in martial arts.
The MMA Draft website also offers a variety of resources to parents, prospects and amateur MMA fans, from educational content to amateur event information. For more information, please visit http://www.MMADraft.com.

MMADraft.com Generates Publicity for Amateur Martial Artists through shows like 'MMA Draft Spotlight with Trigg’
Urijah Faber and Phil Davis recently announce the official launch of MMADraft.com, a promotional platform specifically designed to generate opportunities for up-and-coming amateur martial artists. In addition to providing a high-profile platform for amateurs to market themselves, the MMA Draft team actively generates publicity for their athletes through shows like ‘MMA Draft Spotlight with Trigg’ and ‘The Great Debate’ Radio Show, hosted by Damon Martin. Registered MMA Draft athletes of all ages have the opportunity to earn their place in the spotlight.
Every week MMA Draft features a stand out amateur athlete on their show ‘MMA Draft Spotlight’, hosted by Frank Trigg. The video interviews are featured on MMADraft.com, YouTube, and on Frank Trigg’s iPhone and Android phone App ‘Trigg MMA’. Only MMA Draft gives up-and-coming amateurs the chance to be interviewed by one of MMA’s most recognized personalities, and according to Trigg, he is very happy to do it.
“I’m very excited to be a part of MMA Draft,” stated Trigg. “It allows me to draw attention to talented amateur MMA athletes that deserve to get noticed. The show is a great way for amateurs to set themselves apart from the competition. The more interviews they do as they prepare to go pro, the better. It is a great way to get their name out there.”
Urijah Faber had this to say about Trigg’s involvement with MMA Draft, “I’ve always been a fan of Frank Trigg as a fighter, and over the years I have become a fan of his journalism and commentary as well. We are very happy to have him on the MMA Draft team. He shares our passion for the sport and genuinely cares about the future of MMA.”
MMA Draft also has the support of well-known and respected MMA journalist and radio show host, Damon Martin. Martin has agreed to showcase standout amateur MMA Draft fighters on his radio show ‘The Great Debate’. Martin, who interviews some of MMA’s biggest stars on the show, will include one lucky MMA Draft amateur fighter in the line-up each week. (amateur must be 18yrs or older to be chosen)
Phil Davis had this to add, “Frank Trigg and Damon Martin are well-known and respected in the industry, Frank as a fighter and commentator and Damon as a journalist and radio host. They both have the ability to pierce the periphery and grab a hold of the essence that makes each competitor special. For amateurs, media opportunities like this are priceless.”
The MMA Draft team utilizes their many resources in the professional world of MMA to give back to their athletes. ‘Spotlight with Trigg’ and ‘The Great Debate’ are just two examples. How do MMA Draft amateurs get chosen for opportunities like this? The more photos, videos and activity that they have on their MMA Draft profile, the more likely they are to get chosen.

Davis went on to say, “Daniel is also one of the experts on our MMA Draft ‘Ask a Pro’ panel (another added feature). Anyone can log on to MMADraft.com and submit a question pertaining to amateur MMA under ‘Ask a Pro’ and one of our experts will address it. Maggie Krol and Rick Lee have also joined our team and will be shooting human interest pieces and amateur MMA stories for the site. A lot of exciting things are happening at MMA Draft. We have a really big announcement coming soon, so stay tuned!”

Re: MMADraft.com - News and Updates
MMADraft.com to Host the First Ever MMA Combine July 6 at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center in Las Vegas, Nevada
MMADraft.com, a high-profile promotional platform for up-and-coming amateur MMA athletes, is poised to make MMA history. The organization, founded by Urijah Faber and Phil Davis, is set to host the first ever MMA combine. The historic event will take place on July 6 during the 2013 UFC Fan Expo® in Las Vegas, Nevada. The MMA Draft combine will be held in the Ballroom of the Mandalay Bay Convention Center from 11am to 2pm and is open to amateur MMA athletes of all skill levels between the ages of 13 and 30.
The MMA combine will be similar to combines held by the NFL, NHL and Soccer. Up-and-coming amateur athletes will have the opportunity to demonstrate their skills by participating in a series of athletic tests. Standardized testing will enable participating athletes to compare their results with the results of their peers. The tests, some of which will be MMA specific, will also enable MMA Draft scouts to gauge the potential of the participating fighters.
Phil Davis had this to say about the combine, “The entire MMA Draft team has worked extremely hard to bring the sports very first MMA combine to fruition. With the increasing number of athletes that transition into MMA each year, we feel that it is important for MMA to host combines like the NFL does. It will give exceptionally skilled amateur MMA fighters the opportunity show us what they are made of, and we will be giving them feedback as to what they need to improve on.”
The MMA Draft team will use state-of-the-art technology and accuracy to gauge the athleticism of each prospect. Physical skills such as agility, power, speed and agility will be tested and a ‘mental skills’ assessment will be conducted. Experts like Physical Therapist Russell Dunning MS, MPT and Saralyn Bregman, a licensed Clinical Psychologist that specializes in Sports Psychology, will be on hand administering tests and giving their expert opinions.
During the MMA Skills portion of the combine, which consists of wrestling, grappling and striking, MMA Draft staff members will act as ‘technique dummies’ and will assess the participants strength, technique and knowledge of the sport.
According to Urijah Faber, “We are very excited to bring standardized testing and skills testing for amateur athletes to MMA through MMA Draft Combines. It will definitely be a great motivator for up-and-coming talent and we can’t think of a better place to host our first one than at the 2013 UFC Fan Expo®! We would like to send a big thank you out to the UFC® for working with us to make this happen!”
The MMA Draft combine will give elite amateur fighters the chance to stand out amongst their peers in front of key industry influencers. They will also have the rare opportunity to get feedback from pros that have already made it to the big stage. The UFC® fighters that will be assisting Faber, Davis, and the MMA Draft staff with the combine include; Chad Mendes, TJ Dillashaw, Ramsey Nijem, Court McGee, Steven Siler, Scott Jorgenson, Danny Castillo, Tyrone Woodly, and Erik Koch.
MMA Draft scouts will be rewarding several ‘stand out’ athletes registered on MMADraft.com with an invitation to attend the combine free of charge. The top ten prospects on MMADraft.com will be invited to attend via a free scholarship. Ten additional prospects will be selected as wild cards. Athletes must be registered on MMADraft.com to be chosen. Amateur martial artists of all ages and skill levels are encouraged to create a profile. It is FREE to join!
The MMA Draft combine will start promptly at 11am on July 6. Running shoes are required. Any workout attire that the participant deems comfortable can be worn during the combine. Athletes are encouraged to bring their own fight gear (gloves, pads, etc.) MMA Draft will have fight gear on hand that participants can borrow. Athletes are encouraged to register early, as the combine is limited to 100 athletes.
The cost to participate in the MMA Draft combine is $85 per prospect. Every athlete that competes will receive an MMA Draft swag bag full of great stuff!
