Maguire vs. Rogers Set for Cage Warriors 65 on March 1

Cage Warriors Fighting Championship returns to Dublin on March 1 and officials can today confirm the event's first batch of bouts, including a lightweight contest between John Maguire and Saul Rogers. Cage Warriors 65, which will be the promotion's second event in 2014, is once again set to take place at The Helix in the Irish capital. The meeting of Maguire and Rogers, which is likely to have major implications in the CWFC lightweight division, is one of seven fights now announced for the CWFC 65 card, which will also feature Irish favourites Philip Mulpeter, Artem Lobov and Damien Rooney, among others.

On the back of a five-fight stint with the UFC, Maguire (19-6) made his CWFC debut in Dublin on New Year's Eve and edged out Philip Mulpeter via decision.

The 30-year-old Englishman said: "I don't want to hang around so I'm getting straight back in there two months after my last fight and I'm ready to take my next step towards the CWFC title."

Rogers (7-1), a fellow Englishman, defeated Jason Cooledge in impressive fashion in his promotional debut at CWFC 57 in Liverpool last July, taking his sixth submission in seven wins.

"This is a fight against a tough, talented and experienced fighter, and I expect it to bring out the best in me," said 24-year-old Rogers. "I'll be bringing my A-game to Ireland in order to get the win and move closer to a title shot."

Elsewhere on the CWFC 65 bill, Alex Enlund (9-2-0-1nc) will go in search of his fourth CWFC win when he takes on Artem Lobov (8-7-0-1nc) in a featherweight bout, while lightweight action will see Philip Mulpeter (6-4) collide with Lew Long (7-3).

A third CWFC victory on the trot will be the aim for Bryan Creighton (5-1) as he faces newcomer Damien Rooney (9-3-1) at a 130lbs catchweight, and Martin Sheridan (7-4) will fight in his hometown of Dublin for the first time in a bantamweight bout against Paddy Pimblett (4-1).

Merv Mulholland (10-5) returns to welterweight for a clash with Lee Caers (10-3), with Irish lightweights Myles Price (8-5) and Peter Queally (3-1) also set to square off.

Tickets for Cage Warriors 65 will go on sale shortly so keep track of CWFC on Facebook and Twitter for the latest news and updates.

Alloway vs. Mason and Brown vs. Redmond Set for Cage Warriors 65

Two more bouts have today been added to the card for Cage Warriors Fighting Championhip’s forthcoming return to Ireland. Cage Warriors 65, which will be the promotion’s second event of 2014, is set to take place at The Helix in the Irish capital on Saturday, March 1. The bill for the event has now been boosted by the addition of a welterweight bout between Benny Alloway (pictured) and Jack Mason, as well as a lightweight tussle between Damien Brown and Paul Redmond.

Alloway (12-5) will be returning to Cage Warriors action for the first time since February 2012, having had a three-fight stint with the UFC and an appearance on The Ultimate Fighter in the meantime.

The well-rounded Aussie debuted for the UFC with a KO of the Night victory against Manny Rodriguez, but he'll be keen to return to winning ways against Mason on the back of defeats to Ryan LaFlare and Zak Cummings.

"I'm excited, I'm hungry and I'm healthy again for the first time in 12 months," said Alloway. "This is Jack Mason's 'big fight' and I hope he brings his A-game because I'm coming hard."

Mason (26-12) will be looking to build on a hugely positive 2013, during which he picked up four CWFC wins including stoppages of Matt Inman and Vladimir Opanasenko.

The experienced 31-year-old Englishman, who has a 9-2 record from his last 11 outings, has climbed into the top five in the UK's welterweight rankings thanks to his good run of recent form.

Mason said: "As soon as I heard that Ben Alloway had signed for Cage Warriors, it was a fight I was interested in. He's fun to watch and I like his aggressive style so I'm looking forward to getting in there and taking a dominant win."

Meanwhile, Damien Brown and Paul Redmond will be desperate to return to the win column after both fighters tasted defeat last month in their most recent outings.

Brown (10-5), an Australian compatriot of Alloway's, was edged out by Julien Boussuge via decision at CWFC 61 in Amman in his promotional debut, which was the 29-year-old's first loss over the distance.

"I'm looking forward to giving the Cage Warriors fans in Ireland what they want to see," said Brown. "But it won't be in the hands of the judges this time as I'm coming to finish it."

Redmond (8-4) suffered a loss for the first time under the Cage Warriors banner at CWFC 63 in Dublin on New Year's Eve, when Mateusz Teodorczuk brought an end to a run of five straight wins with a second-round submission.

However, the 27-year-old Irishman says he's eager to make amends: "After my last performance I just want to get back in there again. I was back in the gym two days later fixing everything in my game, so I can't wait for this fight now."
