Anderson Silva - The Comeback *Updates*

Postby Keithlewis » Sat Feb 08, 2014 5:47 pm

Anderson Silva returns to training!

Former middleweight champion and UFC legend Anderson Silva has begun training again just a month and a half after breaking his leg against current champion Chris Weidman at UFC 168.

Silva, who ruled the UFC's middleweight division for almost six years, was pictured at his Muay Thai College in Torrance, California this weekend lifting weights with a trainer and walking down stairs without crutches.

'The Spider' has been adamant about fighting again, and UFC president Dana White suggested that a return to the Octagon before the end of 2014 was possible.

Is it too soon for Silva to begin training again? Personally I think it has to be a bit taxing on the body to come back from that injury so quickly. I can only hope he can return back to the Octagon the same as before, but this may have been the turning point in his career.

That's a quick turn around. I'm hoping he can return to normal, but I just don't see it happening. I think he will fight one more time (if that) and call it a day. He's gone through too much in his career. The body can only take so much before it starts to shut itself down.

Who would that return fight be against? That is the interesting part. I don't think anyone would be interested in this one, but Rich Franklin has still yet to fight in his final fight. But hell, Rich may be thinking this is the best time to tackle trying to defeat Silva in a trilogy that would be uninspiring :D

Bring back Leben for one more! Get redemption against Silva! :D. IN all serious-ness, I wouldn't have a real clue of who I'd want to see him against.

Silva's manager Ed Soares went on the MMA Hour Monday and spoke about "The Spider" and his recovery from a broken left leg back at UFC 168. He mentioned several potential fights for when Silva is ready to return, possibly in late 2014, but more likely in 2015.

"There's Michael Bisping, there's Cung Le. Even Nick Diaz," Soares told Ariel Helwani. "Nick Diaz has said he's wanted to fight him before. Nick Diaz wanted to box Roy Jones Jr. You could argue that Nick Diaz and Anderson probably have some of the best boxing in MMA, so we'll see what happens."

White said that any one of those fights could happen, leaving the door open to any number of potential match ups for the former UFC middleweight champ when he returns.

"I think that the landscape changes so much in MMA that by the time Anderson comes back, we'll see who's where and who's doing what. Any of those fights can happen. ... Nick Diaz has made it very clear that he would love to fight Anderson Silva," White said.
