Destiny beta confirmed for July

The publisher revealed the date during a presentation on its first-quarter 2014 financial results. The studio previously announced that it would open up the beta for its multiplayer shooter in summer.

The Destiny beta will be available first to PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 owners, Bungie confirmed in November 2013.

CVG recently published a hands-on Destiny preview , along with a lengthy preview video featuring gameplay details and impressions.

Bungie has also released a new 7-minute gameplay video of the game in action, showcasing a Strike mission, which sees three players co-operate to complete a designated task.

The publisher announced on Tuesday that it had invested $500 million into the Destiny franchise, saying that "the stakes for us are getting bigger."

Destiny will release for PS3, PS4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One on September 9.

I am actually looking forward to this game. A FPS with MMO elements is not new, but this one seems the most promising. At least it'll have some competitive multiplayer as well.
