Just a day following Gesias "JZ" Calvancante's exit from Dream's lightweight tournament, the American Top Team slugger is expected to find his way back in the field, a source from Calvancante's camp informed Sherdog.com Wednesday morning.

Shinya Aoki, 15-2 with 1 NC, suffered a facial injury in Tuesday's bout that saw him outpoint Calvancante after two rounds. The injury will prevent the 24-year-old Japanese grappler from competing in the May 11 tournament semifinal.

According to the source, Calvancante, fresh off his first mixed martial arts loss in nearly four years, was contacted by Dream staff early Wednesday and informed of Aoki's withdrawal.

"JZ," also 24, is expected to replace Aoki in the lightweight bracket. A two-time winner of the K-1 Hero's lightweight tournament, Calvancante, 14-2-1 with 1 NC, will square off against Katsuhiko Nagata

Gesias "JZ" Calvancante was contacted by Dream staff early Wednesday and informed of Shinya Aoki's withdrawal from the May 11 Dream lightweight grand prix semifinals, a source from Calvancante's camp told Sherdog.com Wednesday.

Aoki suffered a facial injury in Tuesday's bout that saw him outpoint Calvancante after two rounds.

Calvancante was approached about replacing the Japanese fighter, but the 24-year-old American Top Team representative could not come to terms with the promotion and has since left Japan.
