HEIWA DREAM.3 Lightweight GP 2008 2nd Round
Date: May 11th, 2008
Place: Saitama Super Arena in Saitama, Japan
**LIVE Results & PBP**
Lightweight GP 2nd Round Fights:
Mitsuhiro Ishida vs. Caol Uno via RNC Round 2 (1:39)
Round 1:
Neither fighter doing much but Ishida landing some low kicks, an a low blow kick by Ishida. Uno and his wrestling shoes are recovering. Uno comes back with a combo and lands more from the clinch on the ground, Ishida is bleeding badly and the stop to check his nose-----More exchanges of strikes and they clinch against the ropes, Uno lands about 5 inside leg kicks. Uno moves around striking Ishida and blocks a takedown attempt from Ishida. They exchange strikes in the corner with Uno getting the best of it, more rights by Uno and he is taken down by Ishida. Working from the full guard, Ishida moves to side control and Uno reverses and back to the feet. Ishida with the takedown after an exchange of punches, half guard now for Ushida and he is looking to pass. Ishida tries for the RNC as Uno rolls and then Uno rolls for the reverse.
Round 2:
Both fighters exchange low kicks and punches, more of the same, and they go to the ground. Ishida on top, Uno reverses position and gets the back of Ishida and RNC for the victory.
Joachim Hansen vs. Eddie Alvarez via unanimous decision.
Round 1:
Alvarez gets a low kick and an overhand right, Hansen on his back, Alvarez in his full guard. Alvarez lands some GNP, Hansen goes for an armbar and then both fighters stand back up. Alvarez lands a combo and Hansen is down again, Alvarez lets him up and they exchange strikes standing. Combos by both and Alvarez catches a leg and takes down Hansen, Alvarez lets him up again and they exchange strikes and once again Hansen is down and Alvarez lands some more GNP. Back to their feet again and both fighters are bleeding, Alvarez gets the takedown and again lets Hansen get up, more combos from both fighters and Alvarez takes him down and works from full guard. GNP from Alvarez, upkicks from Hansen.....back standing, Hansen with the trip but Alvarez is right back up. Clinch against the ropes in the corner and they break to the middle, Hansen lands a left and slips and the round ends.
Round 2:
Hansen gets a takedown but Alvarez is back up, then down again with Alvarez in Hansen's full guard and Hansen reverses to side control. Hansen goes for the armbar but Alvarez escapes and they are back on their feet, exchanging strikes. Hansen with another armbar attempt as both fighters briefly go to the ground, stand back up. Back to the ground and another submission attempt by Hansen, Alvarez escapes again and they are exchanging strikes on their feet. Alvarez ends the second with a high kick.
Tatsuya Kawajiri vs. Luis Buscape via unanimous decision.
Round 1:
Buscape comes out landing some combos, Kawajiri held against the ropes. Buscape slips and Kawajiri tries to move in. Buscape reverses and both are fighting for position, standing now in the clinch, Buscape tries for the takedown and Kawajiri gets top position in the guard. Trying to pass now, Kawajiri lands some strikes, overhand lefts. Kawajiri now in half guard and landing more GNP. NS now and Buscape gets to his feet and they clinch in the corner. Kawajiri lands a nice combo and on the ground and Buscape pulls guard. Kawajiri with lefts to the face and Buscape returns a few upkicks, reverse by Buscape and they are on their feet again battling for position. On the ground in the corner with Buscape trying to secure the takedown with Kawajiri sitting. Back to the feet and clinching in the corner as the round comes to an end.
Round 2:
Buscape goes for the takedown after both fighters exchange strikes and Kawajiri ends up on top in half guard. GNP from Kawajiri, some knees, more GNP from Kawajiri and Buscape escapes again and Kawajiri gets another takedown. More hammerfists from Kawajiri and the action is back to the feet. Buscape is bleeding now from his nose, Buscape goes down to his back and Kawajiri moves in and is reversed. Buscape working from the back of Kawajiri with both sitting in the corner, Buscape trying for RNC and time is running out. Kawajiri reverses into the guard and the fight ends.
*Aoki & Nagata come out and address the crowd about their fight at DREAM. 4*
**Intermission**
Welterweight Championship Eliminator Fight:
Nick Diaz vs. Katsuya Inoue via TKO-Strikes Round 1 (6:45)
Round 1:
Diaz comes out throwing strikes and kicks and blocking Inoue's kicks. Against the ropes, Diaz lands some more strikes and Inoue counters with a few lefts. Diaz catches a kick and throws some body shots, Diaz presses Inoue against the ropes again and lands several more strikes. Left by Inoue and Diaz draws blood from the nose and mouth of Inoue. Still standing and moving around the ring, Diaz keeps landing shots and gets the takedown. Diaz in from side control, ---break and the ref is checking the cut on INoue--, Standing again and Diaz pushes Inoue into the ropes and has a double leg but the ref stops it. Diaz had Inoue in the wheelbarrow position. Restarts and both fighters are landing strikes, Diaz start landing more and Inoue is in trouble. A big left by Diaz and the towel comes in from Inoue's corner.
Lightweight Fight:
Jung Bukyung vs. Daisuke Nakamura via TKO-Strikes Round 2 (1:19)
Round 1:
Nakamura lands a low kick and a right hook. Both fighters scramble to the ground and Jung tries for armbar, Nakamura escapes and stands up. Nakamura takes an upkick an goes down into Jung's guard, both fighters back standing. Jung with a flying knee but Nakamura puts him back on his back. Nakamura from side control with some body shots and goes for an armbar, Jung escapes and back standing again. Nakamura lands some left jabs and Jung takes him down and is reversed with Nakamura now in half guard. Nakamura now in full guard and lands some GNP, Jung lands a few shots from his back. Side control again for Nakamura, back to half with butterfly guard from Jung. Back standing again and Jung gets the takedown and Nakamura reverses, goes for a leg lock and Jung escapes. Round ends with another leg lock attempt by Nakamura.
Round 2:
Jung goes for a slam and Nakamura gets an armbar in transition and Jung escapes again. On the feet again and Nakamura gets the KO with strikes.
Middleweight GP 1st Round Reserve Fight:
Melvin Manhoef vs. Kim Dae Won via TKO-Strikes Round 1 (4:08)
*Bas yelling YO ADRIAN at Dae Won's Rocky Theme :lol:
Round 1:
Dae charges and Manhoef fends off the takedown and lands a knee. Good exchange and Dae lands a couple of good strikes and takes Manhoef down and is in side control. Dae lands an elbow and is now in half guard, Manhoef recovers and reverses and is now in side mount and Manhoef lands a HUGE knee to the head and Dae is out and the fight is over.
Middleweight GP 1st Round Fight:
Jason Miller vs. Katsuyori Shibatat via TKO-Strikes Round 1 (6:56)
*Mayhem comes out dancing with the Hannibal Lecter mask!!
Round 1:
Miller starts with a karate kid impression and locks up with Shibatat and lands some knees. Shibatat lands some up kicks from his back and Miller closes and gets the mount. GNP by Miller and does the double ear slap as he plays for the camera. looking for the armbar, Miller can't hold it but hits with an elbow. From full mount Miller lands several strikes to Shibatat's face and gets side control and lands a left knee to the head of Shibatat. Miller lands more strikes with Shibatat's arms trapped cross position. More and more strikes from Miller, Shibatat's face is showing damage and after more strikes from the mount the ref steps in and calls it.
Featherweight Fight:
Takeshi Yamazaki vs. SHOJI via unanimous decision.
Round 1:
Shoji lands a knee a start and Yamazaki holds on and gets the takedown and is in half guard. Full mount now for Yamazaki, going for armbar and landing punches. Shoji gets him back to full guard but is taking many shots, Shoji gets back up and Yamazaki takes him back down. Against the ropes in half guard, Yamazaki passes to side control. Shoji throws some good punches from his back and is able to pull half guard again. Both fighters back up and Shoji takes Yamazaki down and lands a knee and some strikes. Yamazaki reverses and is in full mount again. Shoji reverses and is in full guard landing strikes. Both fighters back up and Yamazaki takes him down again with 2 minutes left in the round. Side control for Yamazaki and he loses it and they stand again and a knee to the body by Shoji. Yamazaki gets the takedown again and attempts an armbar and somehow Shoji escapes.
Round 2:
Missing flying knee by Shoji and Yamazaki trips up on the take down attempt and Shoji gets top control and lands a knee. Yamazaki reverses and is in half guard again. Stuck in the ropes---restart. Yamazaki with another takedown, Shoji reverses and lands a couple of strikes from the knees and both fighters back up standing against the ropes. Yamazaki gets another takedown and is in top position in the corner, trying for another armbar.[/b]
