• If Slice-Thompson had reached a decision, it would have been nearly impossible for Slice to have won. According to the official scorecard, Slice was losing on two of the three scorecards after two rounds. Bittencourt scored the first two rounds 10-9 in favor of Thompson, and Crosby not only scored both rounds in favor of Thompson, but scored the second round as 10-8. According to Colon, the fight was a tie going into the third, with him awarding a 10-9 score in the second round to Slice.
• Asked by one reporter if he had tapped during the fight, Slice said he didn't tap a single time. Earlier, Thompson said he didn't believe Slice tapped.
• Despite her not appearing at the press conference, officials said Kaitlin Young was fine after the fight and in relatively good spirits. Gina Carano's right knee was bandaged following the fights, and she said she was injured by several low kicks from Young. James Thompson spoke at the post-fight press conference but left early and went to the hospital for observation. Scott Smith entered the press conference with a noticeable limp and visible swelling in his foot. While no official diagnosis was offered by medical officials, Smith said his foot was broken. Jon Murphy was also fine after the fights and said he plans to get back in the gym soon and resume training.
• Despite heated words leading up to the fight, Joey Villasenor and Phil Baroni were extremely respectful afterward. Baroni approached Villasenor at the news conference and shook his hand. The two were both complimentary to one another. Baroni also broke character and gave a heart-felt speech thanking those who had helped him prepare for the fight. He became emotional when thanking UFC Hall of Famer Mark Coleman for his undying support over the years.
• In spite of three consecutive losses, Baroni expressed no plans to retire, and Shaw made it clear that he would remain under contract to the promotion.
• Attendance for the event was announced as 8,033.
• San Diego Chargers linebacker Shawne Merriman and Los Angeles Dodgers right-handed pitcher Brad Penny both attended.
• Shaw said the next CBS show could take place in late August or early in the fall. He said it will likely take place in a top 10 media market and mentioned Los Angeles and Miami as potential destinations.
• On the undercard, Joe Sampieri defeated Mike Groves via TKO at 4:58 of Round 1; Zach Makovsky won via unanimous decision over Andre Soares; James "Binky" Jones submitted Calvin Kattar with a rear naked choke at 4:49 of Round 1; Wilson Reis submitted Justin Robbins with a rear naked choke at 4:06 of Round 1; Matt Makowski won via TKO over Nick Serra at 3:57 of Round 2; former NFL All-Pro offensive lineman Carlton Haselrig defeated Carlos Moreno via TKO following Round 1; and Chris Liguori won via TKO over Jim Bova at 4:31 of Round 2 in a doctor's stoppage. Reis and Makowski, both fighting out of Philadelphia, looked extremely impressive. The two improved their EliteXC records to 2-0 and may have earned themselves the chance to appear on Showtime the next time they fight.
