Rampage picked up again & taken to hospital!

Postby NWOWolfpack » Thu Jul 17, 2008 11:11 am

TMZ.com was the first to report that former UFC light heavyweight champion Quinton “Rampage” Jackson was taken into custody by law enforcement officials on Wednesday afternoon at 4:30 p.m. PT. FiveOuncesOfPain.com contacted the Irvine Police Department Thursday afternoon in order to verify TMZ’s report and attempt to obtain more details.

Lt. Rick Handfield confirmed that the reports were and stated that Jackson was near his residence when friends of his flagged down law enforcement officials after they became concerned about Jackson following several statements that he had made.

According to Lt. Handfield, Jackson was cooperative after being approached by the police. After speaking with Jackson, the police decided to take Jackson to a local hospital for a mental evaluation.

When asked by FiveOuncesOfPain.com whether Jackson had been arrested, Handfield stated that he had not. He also indicated that the police could not reveal what hospital he had been taken to or offer any updates on the status of Jackson’s current medical condition.

Jackson was originally arrested on Tuesday by Costa Mesa Police Department officials on charges of felony evading, hit-and-run, and reckless driving. He was released on $25,000 bail.

Based on information obtained through Costa Mesa Police Officials, this site reported that there were no serious injuries as a result of Jackson’s alleged conduct. However, the Daily Pilot is now reporting conflicting information.

According to the Daily Pilot, Holli Griggs, 38, of Huntington Beach, Calif., was driving her 2007 Cadillac Escalade in the left lane on the southbound 55 freeway just south of Bay Street when Jackson’s green-and-gray monster truck sideswiped her as it continued down the freeway at 45 mph.

Griggs’ injuries were described as minor in the article, however, she did require medical care as a local hospital. She also informed the paper through e-mail communications that she is 16 1/2 weeks pregnant. Griggs indicated she was not sure of the extent of the injuries sustained by her and her unborn child.

The article also reveals that Jackson was never given a field sobriety test because they felt he did not appear to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

A voicemail left for Jackson’s trainer and manager, Juanito Ibarra, was not immediately returned.

**Dana White was a guest on the Los Angeles based KLOS-FM morning show and made the following comments on the Rampage situation:

"I'm actually here right now, I'm in Southern California," said White. "I've been dealing with this all day yesterday, I haven't really gotten to the bottom of this yet. I don't know what I'm going to do about it yet. Last night when he got out, Rampage is very religious...yeah I'm dealing with it."

"It's not really about a fine," said White. "At the end of the day, we care about these guys. A lot of these guys are our friends. I want to find out what's wrong with Rampage and get him taken care of."

**Also a report of injuries during the brief chase:

Quinton “Rampage” Jackson injured a Huntington Beach woman and may have also injured her unborn child in the incident where he drove his truck recklessly down the 55 freeway in Los Angeles on Tuesday.

Holli Griggs was taken to the hospital for minor injuries according to the Daily Pilot and said that she and her unborn child of 16 and a half weeks were injured. The extent of those injuries are unclear at this point.

What is clear to Griggs however, is that Jackson was acting "violent and reckless” and “had no regard for my life or anyone else’s for that matter.”

-Take this as what it says until a POLICE dept. spokesman confirms it. Obviously, more is to come from this situation.

We finally tracked down UFC President Dana White for an update on Rampage Jackson's condition. There's still much that is unknown and doctors are far from an official diagnosis. White told Yahoo! Sports that Jackson was initially going to stay in care for 72-hours but that has now been extended.

"I think it's going to be a while before we get him back. I'm talking as a friend. It's a sensitive issue. Rampage, the UFC fighter, who cares about that. We're concerned about Rampage, the human being. What matters is his personal life."

White also talked about some strange circumstances that led up to Jackson's episode on Tuesday.

"He was up for four days and he was doing some crazy fasting thing. He was up for four days, drinking water and energy drinks, that was it. It's not good.

White said he knew as soon as he arrived in Southern California on Tuesday night that something was seriously wrong with Jackson.

"Rampage doesn't do drugs. Rampage really doesn't even drink. This whole thing made no sense to me. (Then) when I got there it made a lot of sense."

That is how he went nutz? I don't think that will hold up in court.
