EIGHT new ADH 2007 movies! (overall i thought the 2006 ones were a good series - one or two that were only ok, some good ones, and a couple GREATS like The Hamiltons)
so i bought Tooth & Nail.
it's a post-apocalyptic (apocalypse caused by not disease or war, but running out of gasoline) movie about a group of people living in a hospital. one day, a couple of them are out walking and they find a "pretty girl" and her boyfriend being attacked by a man who runs off.
they bring the pretty girl to the hospital, but...
OH, NO!
a ferocious group of cannibals who dress like vikings follow them back! turns out they were responsible for the attack on the girl, and now they are picking off the inhabitants of the hospital almost as easily as shooting fish in a barrel!
overall, it's a fairly typical plot skeleton, but it's wrapped in a fun new skin and presented nicely, good kill scenes involving multiple brutal swings of rusty hand weapons like axes and spiked maces. pretty good acting, especially for a horror flick, featuring michael madsen as a bloodthirsty cannibal and the girl in last year's ADH "Penny Dreadful" (which she was actually a little better in). and although the plot twists are easy to see, and i think the movie could have used a little more blood & guts...
i'd say it was a good first experience with this year's crop of ADH films.
