Feral Interactive has announced that the award-winning strategy game XCOM: Enemy Unknown will be released for the Mac on Thursday, April 25th. Developed by Firaxis Games and published by 2K for PC and consoles, XCOM: Enemy Unknown is a re-imagining of the groundbreaking classic X-COM: UFO Defense (1994).

XCOM: Enemy Unknown expands on the X-COM legacy with an entirely new story, enemies and technologies to fight hostile aliens and defend Earth. In XCOM: Enemy Unknown, players oversee combat strategies and individual unit tactics, as well as base management and resource allocation while playing as the commander of a secret global military organization, XCOM. With equal emphasis on deep strategy and intense tactical combat, XCOM: Enemy Unknown allows gamers to control the fate of the human race by defending against a terrifying global alien invasion.

The Mac release of XCOM: Enemy Unknown is the Elite Edition, and includes the Slingshot and Elite Soldier Pack add-on content, as well as the Second Wave update, which includes a series of gameplay modifiers that add further depth and flexibility to the campaign. The game will include LAN and online multiplayer modes.

XCOM: Enemy Unknown - Elite Edition for the Mac will retail in North America for US $49.99, £34.99 (inc. VAT) in the UK and €44.99 (inc. VAT) throughout Europe. XCOM: Enemy Unknown – Elite Edition will also be available online for direct download from a variety of digital partner sites worldwide including the Feral Store (https://store.feralinteractive.com) and the Mac App Store. Minimum system requirements call for a 2.0GHz Intel Mac with at least 4.0GB RAM, 256MB or better graphics card, and Mac OS 10.7.5 or later. The game does not support the following graphics cards: ATI X1xxx series, ATI HD2xxx series, Intel GMA series, NVIDIA 7xxx series and NVIDIA 8xxx series. The following graphics cards require 8GB of system RAM: Intel HD3000, NVIDIA 9400 and NVIDIA 320M.
