Newcomer Muamer Tufekcic has made his debut in SUPERKOMBAT World Grand Prix series with a great success. Winner of SUPERKOMBAT New Heroes Croatia, the Bosnian won the tournament of the night in Oradea, Romania and now is qualified for Final Elimination (November 9).

In semifinals, Tufekcic, 26 years old, won via TKO in the first round against Correy Robins after a knee strike in the last seconds. Bleeding, the fighter rezident in Vienna, Austria, was declared the winner of the tournament to the detriment of veteran Jairzinho Rozenstruik (Suriname) after a majority decision (29-28, 29-29, 29-28).

“In January we started a project and now we have the first results. Worldwide tryouts and SUPERKOMBAT New Heroes concept generated the first champion. This was the target for this event. Also was an experiment for us because we put on the card a lot of fighters without a spectacular background so maybe this way some fans are not impressed. As I announced before, we assumed a risk with this first event of the year”, said SUPERKOMBAT president Eduard Irimia.

In the first super-fight of the night, SUPERKOMBAT cruiserweight champion Bogdan Stoica made his return in the ring with an impressive win against Romano Romasco by KO in the second round. Also, SUPERKOMBAT finalist in last season, Benjamin Adegbuyi, won by TKO his fight with Mohamed Bellazar after his opponent broke his leg after few seconds.

In the main-event of the night, internet legend Alexandru Lungu was defeated by Jason Dutton by disqualification after former world champion in judo had a illegal hit on the ground.

Next SUPERKOMBAT World Grand Prix of the year is scheduled for May 18 and will be broadcasted live as usual by Eurosport in more the 75 countries. “After an event with a test event, for next SUPERKOMBAT World Grand Prix we will have a strong fight card. For sure, Andrei Stoica, Catalin Morosanu, Benjamin Adegbuyi and Raul Catinas will be there. Soon we will announce all details”, said Eduard Irimia.
