UFC 166: Velasquez vs. dos Santos 3 – Fight Card
Main Bouts (Pay-Per-View):
UFC heavyweight title bout:
Cain Velasquez def. Junior dos Santos via TKO (Referee Stoppage/Strikes) Round 5 (3:09)
- Dos Santos landed quite a few bombs but once again Velasquez dominated the fight with clinch work and dirty boxing against the cage. At the end it was dos Santos who went for a submission and awkwardly fell flat on his face and basically knocked himself out. Velasquez retains the UFC heavyweight crown!
Daniel Cormier def. Roy Nelson via Decision - Unanimous (30-27 all judges)
Gilbert Melendez def. Diego Sanchez via Decision - Unanimous (29-28, 30-27, 29-28)
- Put this fight on your MUST WATCH list, it was one kickass bloody battle.
Gabriel Gonzaga def. Shawn Jordan via TKO (Punches) Round 1 (1:33)
John Dodson def. Darrell Montague via KO (Punches) Round 1 (4:13)
Preliminary Bouts (Fox Sports 1):
Tim Boetsch def. CB Dolloway via Decision - Split (30-26, 27-29, 30-26)
- Dolloway was deducted a point in the 3rd round for two eye pokes.
Hector Lombard def. Nate Marquardt via KO (Punches) Round 1 (1:48)
Jessica Eye def. Sarah Kaufman via Decision - Split (29-28, 28-29, 29-28)
KJ Noons def. George Sotiropoulos via Decision - Unanimous (29-28, 29-28, 30-27)
Preliminary Bouts (UFC Facebook):
Adlan Amagov def. TJ Waldburger via KO (Punches) Round 1 (3:45)
- TJ Waldburger is being transported to the hospital, he's speaking and alert, so that's definitely good news.
Tony Ferguson def. Mike Rio via Submission (D'Arce Choke) Round 1 (1:52)
Andre Fili def. Jeremy Larsen via TKO (Strikes) Round 2 (0:53)
Kyoji Horiguchi def. Dustin Pague via TKO (GnP) Round 2 (3:51)
What do you expect? The comedian is dead.

After one of the best cards in recent memory, eight fighters joined UFC President Dana White at the UFC 166 post-fight press conference - Gilbert Melendez, Gabriel Gonzaga, Cain Velasquez, Daniel Cormier, Diego Sanchez, John Dodson, Jessica Eye and Hector Lombard.
Melendez and Sanchez took home Fight of the Night in a battle that Joe Rogan called the "best ever." The lightweights engaged in a true back-and-forth war, with both fighters nearly finishing each other on multiple occasions. Melendez ultimately earned the nod, winning via unanimous decision.
John Dodson bounced back nicely from his flyweight championship loss to Demetrious Johnson with a first-round knockout of Darrell Montague. The vicious left hook helped Dodson secure Knockout of the Night and his third UFC win by KO/TKO.
Preliminary card fighter Tony Ferguson received Submission of the Night for his tapout of Mike Rio. Hurt by a short left, Rio went for the take down, and this time Ferguson sank in a D’Arce, dropped and rolled, hooking Rio’s arm’s until the tap came at 1:52.
Each bonused fighter received $60,000 for their efforts; the usual bonus is $50,000, but Tim Boetsch convinced White to increase the amount in the pre-fight meeting by reminding him that "Everything is bigger in Texas."
