ROAD FC 015 Main Event Synopsis
ROAD FC 015 took place on 31 May at the Chiak Stadium in Wonju, South Korea. In an exciting night of unexpected outcomes, every fight on the Main Card ended in the first round and did not go the judges.
In the Main Event rematch between Seo Doo-Hwan and Joachim Hansen, Seo earned his revenge from their first encounter by knocking Hansen out with the quickest KO ever recorded at ROAD FC - 15 seconds! Seo then announced he was solemnly donating his winnings to the victims of the Sewol tragedy.
Ikuhisa Minowa also fell to underdog Park Jung-Kyo with a KO that came near the end of the first round. Minowa had to be stretchered to leave the cage. After undergoing immediate medical treatment, we can assure fans he is alright and safe back in Japan.
Issei Tamura looked strong and calculating against Kim Soo-Chul, but once Kim was able to successfully make a take down, he worked to force Tamura to tap to a Rear Naked Choke.
Kosuke Umeda and Kil Young-Bok contested with an uncharacteristic striking battle. Kil's wrestling ultimately did not play out, because he was able to knock Umeda down and pounded on him to get the referee's stoppage.
"Crying Fist" Season 3 contestants Park Hyun-Woo and Kim Jae-Hoon opened the Main Card with a rousing brawl. The heavyweights struck and kicked each other until Park turned on the heat and sent Kim to the canvas with a combination of punches, kicks and pounding.
Young Guns 14 Synopsis
On the Young Guns 14 undercard, several up and coming young Korean fighters left big impressions on the fans. Cho Young-Seung showed wonderful grappling against Kim Ho-Jun's strong top control and defense to the submissions, with Cho winning the Split Decision.
Kwak Jong-Hyun and Kim Seok-Yong put on a thrilling non-stop action first round. In the second, Kim's cardio and gave him the edge, and he stuck to Kwak's back and pounded until the referee pulled him off.
Lee Chan-Ho had an advantage on the scoreboard since Kim Dae-Sung missed weight and was deducted two points per round. However Kim perfectly timed a beautiful head kick to get the KO, making the deductions obsolete.
Oh Ho-Tak and Tyrone Henderson went to the first decision of the night with a two round back-and-forth match of grappling. The judges could not decide who had the upper hand and awarded the bout a Draw.
Kang Sung-Mok accepted the fight against Yoo Jae-Hak who was overweight for their bout. He punished him for it, getting the TKO in the first round.
Special Announcement for the Sewol Victims
In a special ceremony during the Main Card, CMA President Hidekatsu Morooka presented to ROAD FC a donation of monies collected in Japan for the victims of the Sewol tragedy. Japanese MMA promotions DEEP, GLADIATOR and PANCRASE all contributed to the collection. ROAD FC is extremely grateful for the outpouring of sympathy and support for the terrible tragedy that has befallen the nation.
