Jorge Santiago versus Yuki Sasaki Added to Sengoku II
Previously lined up for Strikeforce’s one-night, four-man 185-pound tournament, a proposed bout between eventually tournament winner Jorge Santiago and Japan’s Yuki Sasaki fell through due to irregularities in an MRI taken by the latter.
Sean Salmon stepped in to replace Sasaki, but was stopped in the first round by Santiago. In the finals Santiago also defeated Trevor Prangley in the first round. Extending his win streak to four, Santiago has finished all of his recent wins in the first round, short of a second round stoppage over Andrei Semenov. His fourth win is over notable fighter Jeremy Horn.
Sasaki last fought in July of 2007 where he defeated Bo Guk So in DEEP.
World Victory Road have announced that they plan on making the fight that never happened a reality, and have added the two middleweights to their May 18 Sengoku II card, which will take place live from the Ariake Colosseum in Tokyo, Japan.
