The telecast, which emanated from the Crown Coliseum in Fayetteville, North Carolina, was planned with the goal of raising charitable contributions for the Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund (IFHF).
IFHF provides assistance to our nation’s military heroes and their families who have been critically injured in the performance of their duty. The Fund is currently seeking to raise a total of $65 million for a new medical facility in Bethesda, Maryland to be named the National Intrepid Center of Excellence (NICoE).
NICoE will be a 75,000 square foot, state-of-the-art treatment and rehabilitation center to provide leading edge services and support for soldiers with traumatic brain injury (TBI). The center will also conduct research, test new protocols and provide comprehensive training and education to patients, providers and families while maintaining ongoing tele-health follow-up care.
In the release, IFHF President Bill White commended the UFC and Spike TV for the success of the event.
“We are profoundly grateful to the UFC and Spike TV for their extraordinary support of our nation’s Wounded Warriors,” White said. “Their efforts have moved us that much closer to complete the traumatic brain injury center in Bethesda for the service members that are fighting for our freedom overseas.”
