Swick vs. Saunders Added to UFC 99
Sources within American Top Team have confirmed to PDG that Ben Saunders will face TUF fighter Mike Swick at the UFC's first trip to Germany in June. Bout agreements have yet to be signed, though both parties have already agreed to the fight and are waiting to sign the contracts.
Saunders (7-0-2) is on a seven-fight win streak entering his June 13 bout. After fighting to a draw in his first two career bouts, Saunders won four in a row before joining The Ultimate Fighter 6 cast. Despite being eliminated on the show, Saunders defeated Dan Barrera in the finale. He has since added UFC victories over Ryan Thomas and Brandon Wolff.
Swick (13-2) is on a three-fight win streak since dropping to the welterweight division. Like Saunders, Swick appeared on The Ultimate Fighter. He picked up five consecutive wins in the middleweight division, including wins over David Loiseau, Joe Riggs, and Steve Vigneault before losing to Yushin Okami at UFC 69. He has since defeated Josh Burkman, Marcus Davis, and Jonathan Goulet.
The main event of UFC 99 is set to feature former UFC middleweight champion Rich Franklin against former PRIDE middleweight (205 lbs) champion Wanderlei Silva at a catch-weight of 195 pounds.
