The main points from Megum's blog: THANKS to T. Hope for the translation
- The two fighters (Akano and Cyborg) agreed to a fighting weight and Cyborg came in 7lbs or 3.1 kgs over.
- Megumi says that not making weight is a sign of disrespect towards your opponent.
- She compares the weight difference to Aoki vs Mach and how Aoki was fighting outside of his normal weight class.
- She says that at Cyborg's second weigh in at she was 150.5 with a bathing suit on and the president of Shoot Boxe says it was due to "her bathing suit weighing more due to being drenched in sweat." As a result, two minutes later they brought Cyborg into another room where she took her clothes off and apparently weighed in at 144.
- Megumi goes on to say that Cyborg seems content with a "see? I made weight!" type attitude. Megumi says that simply taking off a bathing suit can NO WAY result in a loss of that much weight. Even though Cyborg resisted, AACC insisted in her getting on the scale again. This time it showed up as 150.
- Megumi sarcastically calls the whole situation "magic" and "I wonder what type of trick she used?"
- Long story short, Cyborg's weight did NOT go down as she tried to claim.
- Megumi then explains the rules of the commission, and how they gave Cyborg more time to drop more weight that day. Cyborg aparently did not even put out the effort to lose more weight at all.
- Says Cyborg tried to lie about her weight and deceive all those present.
- Says that Cyborg's party said "They'll take the fight anyway, their Japanese." and "We're giving up 20% of our purse, what more do you want?" They showed zero remorse for their actions.
- Because of this they cancelled the fight at first.
- Megumi says she wonders if Cyborgs team realizes how difficult of a decision it is for one to turn down a fight after all the preparation, the day before it happens.
- Talks continued until 2 AM.
- In the end it was Hitomi who decided to fight. She says in her mind, her "I want to fight" attitude persuaded her to go on with it.
- In the end, Akano lost, but Megumi considers it a victory. Akano does not regret her decision.
- After the ref stopped the fight, Cyborg didn't come over to check on Akano.
- Megumi says that "a fight without rules and without respect for your opponent is nothing more than a backyard brawl (kenka in Japanese).
- Megumi says she wants the sport to grow for the better. She says that nationality has nothing to do with mma. Its about sportsmanship and everyone should fight according to the rules and with repsect.
