Kim Couture and Kerry Vera have verbally agreed to meet in a 135-pound women’s bout for Strikeforce, sources from both fighter’s camps have confirmed. Bout agreements are expected to be signed shortly.

Sherdog.com has learned that the bout is a possibility for a proposed Nov. 20 event, although Strikeforce officials could not confirm the date or a venue for the proposed event.

Strikeforce has already announced shows on Nov. 6 (airing on Showtime), and a Nov. 7 event featuring Fedor Emelianenko vs. Brett Rogers in Chicago, which will air on CBS.

The women’s bout will mark the first time wives of world-class fighters have faced one another in the sport.

Kerry is the wife of UFC light heavyweight Brandon Vera, while Kim was married to former UFC champion Randy Couture (the two recently filed for divorce).

The matchup could have further historical reference as well.

If Nov. 20 is cemented, the spouse-matching bouts will take place one week apart from one another.

Couture and Vera are set to face off in the light heavyweight main event at UFC 105 on Nov. 14 at the MEN Arena in Manchester, England.

Couture, 33, defeated Lina Kvokov by a first-round technical knockout in her second professional bout at Strikeforce “Destruction” last November. Couture lost a unanimous decision to Kim Rose at Banner Promotions “Night of Combat” in June 2008.

Vera, 27, who recently agreed to a five- fight deal with Strikeforce, made her mixed martial arts debut for Bellator Fighting Championships last May in Chicago with unanimous decision victory over Leslie Smith.

Vera was also the winner of the 2007 season of “Fight Girls,” an Oxygen channel reality series that documented 10 female muay Thai fighters through an elimination competition that culminated in Thailand.
