Takanori Gomi has confirmed he will fight in Vale Tudo Japan 2009 later this year, before taking his career to the USA. The Japanese lightweight made the revelation in a blog posting today, in which he also lambasted the media for focusing so much on him and less on other Japanese fighters.

“Today was an important day for me. I’m confirmed to fight at VTJ 09 and I believe I’ll have a great presentation in the ring. The expectation is to be at my best,” he wrote. “I decided to fight again thanks to friends Genki Sudo and Rumina Sato. They convinced me of taking this challenge”.

But he added, “I hope not to answer further questions over it. The fans understand me. The future is not to talk much. I’ve been talking to the press and something has happened frequently, something that bothers me a lot”.

“Every time I appear in public, people charge up to me asking when I will fight, who I will fight and whether I am training. I’m sick and tired of all this demand. The truth is Japan has excellent fighters and huge idols, so some times I ask myself “Why me?” Why all this focus towards me?”

“Sometimes I’d like to keep it private and expose myself less to these questionnaires. The idea I have in mind is fighting my last fight in Japan. After VTJ 09, I will think about the future. Maybe I’ll go to USA after my baby’s born.”
