10 Questions With Tom Watson (by Darrick Patrick)

Tom "Kong" Watson is a professional mixed martial artist who has appeared in organizations such as Cage Rage, Maximum Fighting Championship, ZT Fight Night, Atlas Fighting Challenge, British Association of Mixed Martial Arts, and Ultimate Challenge MMA. At the time of this very short interview, his next scheduled match is against Jesse Taylor in Maximum Fighting Championship at MFC 26: Retribution on September 10th, 2010.

Darrick: What was the path that led you to competing professionally in mixed martial arts?

Tom: I started by boxing with friends, then moved on to grappling a little bit at a Judo class. After time, it all led to the journey that I'm currently taking in life.

Darrick: Who are some of the people that greatly influenced you while growing up?

Tom: My mother and father have both been great role models for me in different ways.

Darrick: What brings you the most fulfillment out of martial arts?

Tom: Paying my bills by doing something that I truly love.

Darrick: Your next scheduled match is against Jesse Taylor on September 10th. What are your thoughts about this upcoming fight?

Tom: Just another day at the office. He seems to be an opponent who will be looking to come out and put me on my back. Pretty much the same as usual.

Darrick: Any words of advice for other individuals looking to compete in MMA?

Tom: Be sure to do things your own way when getting involved with the competition aspect of mixed martial arts. You are the one who has to justify your performances to yourself.

Darrick: Who are a few of the people in the sport that you highly respect?

Tom: I respect all of my coaches who put in hours of work with me. They never truly get credit for helping me in ways people would never imagine.

Darrick: Outside of MMA, what are your other interests?

Tom: I love to just watch movies and eat out with friends.

Darrick: What is your oldest memory?

Tom: The earliest memories that I have are of being about seven years old and throwing myself around the room when The A-Team would come on.

Darrick: Tell us something about you that most people don't know.

Tom: I am fluent in Hebrew.

Darrick: What moment in your life have you been proudest of so far?

Tom: My first time in the Red Light District of Amsterdam was a very proud moment.
