UFC 129: St. Pierre vs. Shields - Fight Card

UFC Welterweight Championship:
Georges St. Pierre vs. Jake Shields via Decision - Unanimous (50-45, 48-47, 48-47)
- In what most expected, GSP and Shields remained standing throughout the fight and although Shields probably landed more strikes in rounds 3-5, his lack of did little but cut the face of the champion. GSP used his superior striking and octagon control to limit Shields chances at takedowns and win the fight 48-47.
UFC Featherweight Championship:
Jose Aldo vs. Mark Hominick via Decision - (50-43, 48-46, 49-46)
- One of the best fights this year. Aldo punished Hominick into a bloody mess and in the fourth round a second head started growing out of Hominick's forehead. Aldo used big punches and takedowns to take the first four rounds. In round five after Hominick was cleared by a doctor for the second time, he took Aldo down and used GNP from Aldo's guard to inflict good damage. Although Hominick won round five decisively, it would be ROBBERY if Aldo didn't retain his title.
Randy Couture vs. Lyoto Machida via KO (Front-Kick To The Face) Round 2 (1:05)
- Machida controlled round one with his striking and evasiveness and in round two he used the same front kick as Anderson Silva to KO Captain America.
Vladimir Matyushenko vs. Jason Brilz via KO (Strikes) Round 1 (0:20)
- Matyushenko rushed in landed a big right followed by a left that floored Brilz and he followed it up with GNP and that's a wrap.
Ben Henderson vs. Mark Bocek via Decision - Unanimous (30-27 all judges)
- Henderson controlled all three rounds with superior striking and his ability to escape the submission attempts of Bocek when he was taken down. An elbow by Henderson in the second frame cut the top of Bocek's head badly.

- Valencia suffered a broken nose from an elbow by Menjivar
Jason MacDonald vs. Ryan Jensen via Submission (Triangle Choke) Round 1 (1:37)
Kyle Watson vs. John Makdessi via KO (Spinning Back-Fist) Round 3 (1:27)
Yves Jaboin vs. Pablo Garza via Submission (Flying Triangle Choke) Round 1 (4:31)
