Contender Asia winner Yodsaenklai Fairtex is set to take on his former team mate and Thai Fight champion Kem Sitsongpeenong in a Muay Thai super fight on December 30th in Pattaya.

The fight was announced today and no further details are available at the time of writing, although it is worth noting that Kem’s last fight was at 154 lbs while Yodsaenklai was last seen competing at 160 lbs

As well as being the Thai Fight champion Kem is also the WBC champion and won the Isuzu Cup in 2010. The fight was announced today by a promoter called Pieter Hoovers on facebook.

Yodsaenklai burst to fame by winning the inaugural Contender Asia series but he has also won belts with the WMC and WBC and was a Lumpinee Stadium champion in his younger days.

Both fighters were at the Fairtex camp in Pattaya and presumably sparred together regularly but while Yodsaenklai has remained there Kem left to join Sitsongpeenong a couple of years ago.

Thy are two of the Thai fighters with the highest international profiles although Kem has more experience of facing Thai opposition in recent years while Yodsaenklai has primarily been fighting against foreigners since winning the WBC title in 2005.

This was what Hoovers wrote on his facebook:

With great pride I promote this epic Battle with 2 of the best Muay Thai fighters on 30 December in Pattaya. This main event will be on ESPN
